On Nicole

Suzette’s (aka Nicole) sworn affidavit was carefully crafted to provide “mitigating circumstances.” It is possible for this to become the basis of a reduction in sentence (like "time-served" in the U.S. embassy; or the 30 days in a Makati jail) or a presidential pardon for the convicted Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith.

It’s a shadow-play which solves nothing regarding the one-sided Visiting Forces Agreement and the underlying U.S. military’s perception and treatment of Filipinas in general as five-letter women good only for prostitution.

Remember the U.S. troops' statement that they thought Suzette was "a professional." -- ##

I feel sorry for her.
I'm furious with both the US and Philippine governments.
I WANT TO DO SOMETHING!!!

Life sucks! Just one tiny victory and they take it away from the people and the country. Like Kai, I want to do something, anything.

What's the big deal about a woman recanting accusations of rape, battering, etc.? Happens all the time.

Anonymous said...

What doe's she have to do? Stand out in front of the US Embassy and scream, "I lied, I was angry and made it all up, no go home you nitwits!"

I find it incomprehensable that you people want so deparately to destroy a young man's life for a political agenda (anti-VFA) after Nicole deserts you and goes on to live happily ever after.

My reply, dear latest anonymous, is in the new post. Hopefully this will enable you to understand why this issue is so very important even to us who live in the U.S. of A.

Since you're not going to print this anyway, Ms Rosca, (Leftists rarely allow opposing points of view), the assumption that Nicole was a "professional" was legitimate because there were literally 100s of girls fraternizing with the GIs that night, most of them for the cash.

Two other things you need to know: First, when the bases were open, literally thousands of GIs were happily married to filipinas, they are the most wonderful women on earth and I've been to 50 different countries so I know what I'm talking about. Second, you've got your crime facts wrong. Of the 100,000s of Americans and their families who were stationed at Clark and Subic, very very few left the Philippines without having been the victim of a crime, be it home burlaries, assaults, ripoffs, every scam imaginable and, yes, even rape and murder. Organized syndicates stole materials worth millions of dollars from the bases every year. And while GIs committed their crimes almost always out of stupidity or while being drunk, filipino criminals committed crimes sober and with malice aforethought at a ratio of at least 100-1. No doubt you don't believe it, but anything else is revisionist history. The truth hurts sometimes.

One final question: why is it that when a woman is drunk and drives a car shes a criminal but when she is drunk and has sex, suddenly she's a victim? Women will never gain true equality until the law stops treating them like children who are not accountable for their actions.

Unknown said...

Because nobody holds down a drunk woman's foot to the accelerator pedal nor glue her hands to the wheels -- she does it herself and is therefore liable. Being effed while one is drunkenly semi-conscious has no "agency," "willfulness," "action" on the woman's part. Women will never gain equality if (presumably) men like you insist that they be held liable for what men do to them.

Anonymous said...

I said drunk, not semi-conscious. Problem is that, originally, Nicole claimed she was conscious enough to hear Smith's buddies cheering him on. Now, she says otherwise. So which time was she lying, in 2005 or now?

Sounds like reasonable doubt to me.

Daniel Smith had to carry her out of the club. Why don't you read the trial transcript?

Anonymous said...

She's RECANTED the transcript, saying she was "brought to" the van, and asking herself, "how could I have remembered this (the foreplay inside the van) if witnesses said I looked passed out?" Funny how those witnesses didn't include the van driver who was a few feet away. Oh yeah, they threatened the guy with complicity and he disappeared.

Obviously, we are never going to agree but, in your heart of hearts, do you REALLY want to see Smith go to prison for life over this Mother of all He Said/She Saids?

Anonymous said...

Racism?!? Ah, that old liberal strawman argument. My filipina wife of 20 years would laugh at that. But I agree with you, there are "Camp Followers" just like Nicole in almost every country.

Unknown said...

Well, is she "passed out" or mildly intoxicated as you seem to imply? You can't accept that she's passed out in one instance and then just a little drunk in another. Please be logical.

What I want is No Foreign Troops/Bases in the Philippines -- just as there are no foreign troops/bases in the United States.

As for Smith, I don't want him to spend the rest of his life thinking he can have sex with any woman under whatever circumstance.

And for you, I do sincerely wish you'd stop thinking in terms of such labels as "leftists" "rightists" or what-not because they are a block to clear thinking.

I wonder how much they're paying this anonymous guy to make propaganda for Daniel smith. He just twists and turns and twists and turns...

Actually, there ARE foreign troops in the US. There are several pilot training bases in Texas for both European and African nationals. Why? Because two elected governments decided it was beneficial to both nations, not unlike the VFA. Why don't you talk to some of the 1000s of filipinos who have received much needed medical, dental, surgery, roads, schools and protection from muslim thugs in the provinces? Military ships from several European countries and Australian make port in the Philippines....why aren't you standing in front of THEIR embassies?

Unknown said...

It's interesting to note that the usual defense to racism is "what, I married one of you!" Terry Nichols, one of the Aryan supremacist Oklahoma bomber, was also married to a Filipina. This has always seemed to me so expressive of how non-human we Filipinas are viewed by racists. Racism is all about power.

Unknown said...

The training bases do not hold thousands of Europeans or other nationals. They are not managed by foreign nationals. And such trainees are required to have passports and visas, unlike US military personnel under the VFA. I don't stand in front of the Australian embassy or others, because I am not a citizen of those countries. They do not act in my name. For the sake of your wife of 20 years and any hapa children you may have, step outside your shoes for a while and walk in hers/theirs...

True to leftist form, Rosca, someone counters your position successfully, and you don't print it, resorting instead to name-calling, as if using the 'R' word has any sting anymore. Why let the facts ruin a good story, eh?
For your info, I'm Fil-Am.

Thought this was a Blog.

Unknown said...

I don't print your comments? You have like 32 million on this post alone. Why don't you read what's posted before you hurl invectives and indictments?

And Fil-Am? Well, pay attention to how the last of your hyphenated identity overwhelms the first.

Anonymous said...

He's not Fil-Am. He exhibits nothing but contempt for Filipinos/Filipinas -- which comes from not having endured what we Fil-Ams endure in this country. He is probably one of those dirty-ops operator paid minimum wage to counter anything you say. Pay no attention to his rantings. I bet he's not even married to a Filipina.

Anonymous said...

You'd lose that bet, Jackson. And I have nothing but contempt for liars, regardless of ethnicity. What exactly have you "endured?" Assuming you're a guy, granted, women have an easier time of it, but I think we have the best of both worlds in America.

News flash for you Nicole groupies: Zambales Congresswoman Mitos Magsaysay "REGRETS not having come forward" with information that could have impacted Smith's trial. She met with Nicole shortly after the incident and says the girl made no reference to rape whatsoever, only that she "was afraid her mother was going to scold her for staying out all night." That, along with hiding infidelity, are the two main reasons that women make false rape accusations according to studies.

Mark my words, we haven't heard the last of this skunk. It may take a couple years but we'll be reading about her divorce, and yet another marine will be defending himself in court. FYI: "Abused" immigrants (real or imagined) are fast-tracked to citizenship.

Justice prevails, almost. Because of a woman who had her feelings hurt, an admitted liar, a young man was cheated out of three and a half years of his life. If I were him, I'd sue her in a US court for defamation and a dozen other charges.

Heidi of Ma-Al said...

If Nicole lied about the rape, how come she was rewarded with an immigrant visa? LOL! One plus one equals two, not thirty-four.
